Getting A Table at a Craft Sale:
If you are new to selling at craft sales, getting your foot in the door of a busy sale can be difficult. Here are a couple ways to get a table.
Call the coordinator and ask if there is a waiting list. The operator usually has one.
If you are on a waiting list, make sure your contact information is correct and that you can be contacted easily. When a space becomes available they will call you. Act quickly if they call since they are anxious to fill their tables, and they may only call you once before moving on to the next person on the waiting list.
Ask if you can come to the show ready to sell in case there is a no-show. This does happen. People get sick, or have car problems, or just quit the business. Operators usually have a policy that says if you are not there 30 minutes before the show opens that your space is up for grabs.
Another thing that happens is that a table may get added. At a recent show we noticed that by making a slight adjustment we could get one more eight foot table in the hall. We added a table, and there was an individual waiting to take it.
Once you have a spot in a particular sale, you will likely be able to return again and again. Most of the time the operator will have forms available for you to book tables at the next show at that location. Be prepared to sign up and pay your fee for the next show. Now you are in!
If the show was not particularly good for you it is time to decide if you want to return or not. If you decide not to, do let the operator know you will not be back; don't make them guess if you are coming.
